The safari covers 2,120 kilometers of South Africa's Highveld, with the train serving as a moving lodge between field days. Guineafowl, francolin and partridge are driven in the classic English style, with lines of up to 120 local beaters bringing wild birds over the standing line across six to seven drives a day. Rock pigeons and waterfowl are taken over decoys, and doves are pass-shot on the flight line, with morning and afternoon flights. A dedicated field assistant is assigned to every hunter.
The journey is priced at $40,855 per hunter, per person sharing, with non-hunting companions traveling at $20,150. The single published figure covers the full expedition: suite accommodation aboard the train, all meals and beverages, the fully outfitted field days with licenses and field assistants included, guided excursions, and government tax. Published pricing is rare in this market. Comparable driven days in Britain and Spain are quoted per day and per bird, with lodging, travel, and extras accumulating separately. The South African safari is presented as a complete expedition with a single figure, which the company openly publishes for American travelers.
Non-hunting companions follow a parallel program while the hunting party is in the field: Big Five game drives at Nambiti and Mattanu private reserves, the Kimberley diamond fields and its Big Hole, a Bloemfontein city tour, and a fly-in day to the Madikwe Game Reserve, with both parties reconvening aboard each evening for dinner.
