Data Glitch Grounds Over 300 Flights in Italy

(MENAFN) A data transmission malfunction at Milan’s Area Control Center on Saturday evening grounded more than 300 flights across multiple cities in northwest Italy, a news agency reported.

The disruption took place around 9 p.m. local time (1900 GMT), causing either complete flight suspensions or severe limitations on departures and arrivals at airports within the affected airspace. This included major hubs such as Milan, Bergamo, Genoa, and Turin. The report also noted that repair teams are actively working to resume normal air traffic operations.

The Milan Area Control Center is one of four regional facilities managed by ENAV, Italy’s national air navigation service provider.
